The Blaikie family is supposed to have come
originally from the Borders but in the Rebellion of 1715 the father of David Blaikie
was called out of the ranks and shown to the Pretender as one of the finest Highlanders,
being a very big man. He had a grant of land from the Earl of Perth. David
married Mary Bisset and had two sons, John (born 1756) and Thomas (born 1762), the former
being the father of Sir Thomas. This large family is now scattered all over the
world, in Australia, New Zealand, USA, England, South Africa and of course, Scotland. |
