Deep in the heart of the back of beyond
there's a wonderful place called Paradise pond.
The animals live there happy and free
there's nowhere on earth they'd rather be.
The leading citizen is: -
Mr. Heaton Torrie a snob of a snail
who made a vast fortune from cabbage and kale,
he lives in a mansion called Cabbage Stock Hall
of all the big houses it's the biggest of all.
His best friend is: -
Robert the brown trout a pearl diver of note
who had to retire when a pearl stuck in his throat,
now his idea of having great fun
is to float in the water and bask in the sun.
He likes to talk to: -
Pricilla Jane the hedgehog prickles for short
she's a giggley googley gurgley sort,
she can't be relied on for serious play
she just giggles and googles and gurgles all day
She likes: -
A bunny called Rabbit O'Hare,
who can fly like the wind and fly through the air.
Like magic he's a willow the wisp
Prickles swears he's never been kissed.
His neighbor is: -
Mr. Vicar the Reverend Mole
who spends his whole life digging for soul
On Sunday he comes into his own
he stands at the pulpit like a king on his throne.
His Choir Mistress is: -
Miss Bartholomew a cackling hen
who's been singing hymns since heaven knows when.
She doesn't worry about words the music or that
she just sits at the front and wales like a cat.
Her mission in life is to save: -
A field mouse named Harry
who she hopes will settle and marry
But he's naughty and rude
with a bad attitude.
That no one is likely to carry.
He often plays tricks on: -
A turtle named Mr. Green
who is the quietest turtle you've seen
Harry better be careful, for once I heard tell
when a turtle is angry he comes out of his shell
He swims with: -
Gilbert the goose who decided to stay
when all the other geese went on their way,
something inside told him to go
but he thought it great fun to play in the snow.
With all his friends
There were bats and rats and little stray cats
and squirrels up in the tree
a ground hog and a dog and little green frog
and the nest of the honey bee
a stout and a goat and insects that float
they all live in harmony.
They all live together and they are terribly fond
Of that wonderful place called Paradise Pond.
