Poems by
Stuart Garland This Land Where Us Men
Wear Skirts
TAKE A TRAIN FAR NORTH
TAKE A FERRY 'CROSS THE KYLE
TAKE A BUS TO THE SQUARE IN THE TOWN
I'LL MEET YOU IN THE BAR
WHERE THE WHISKEY IT HURTS
IN THIS LAND WHERE US MEN WEAR SKIRTS
WE'LL SLAP YOUR BACK FOR GOOD MEASURE
TELL YOU STORIES OLD AND NEW
SOCIALIZE OVER A MEAL AND A DRAM
AND WHEN 'TIME' GOES AGAINST US
WE'LL RIP YOU OPEN LIKE A SHIRT
IN THIS LAND WHERE US MEN WEAR SKIRTS
WE MEAN WHAT WE SAY
BUT IT DEPENDS ON WHO YOU ARE
ON WHETHER YOU TAKE OFFENCE OR AGREE
BUT IT WILL ALL BE FORGOTTEN
WHEN WE WAKE UP IN THE 'DIRT'
IN THIS LAND WHERE US MEN WEAR SKIRTS
DON'T BE PUT OFF BY WHAT YOU'RE HEARING
WE'RE REALLY FRIENDLY TAME AND BRAVE
WE SAVE ALL OUR FRUSTRATIONS FOR THE 'LISH
SO BOOK YOUR BED AND BREAKFAST
IT'S A TRIP YOU SHOUDN'T SHIRK
TO THIS LAND WHERE US MEN WEAR SKIRTS.
TAKE A TRAIN FAR NORTH
TAKE A FERRY 'CROSS THE KYLE
TAKE A BUS TO THE SQUARE IN THE TOWN
I'LL MEET YOU IN THE BAR
WHERE THE WHISKEY IT HURTS
IN THIS LAND WHERE US MEN WEAR SKIRTS.
