The Enchantress
by William Smith

She enchanted me when we were young.
Her voice haunted my dreams; a glance
From her eyes caused me to weaken.
The touch of her hand on mine made
My head swim with delight.

This was forty years ago, and to this day
I still remember how she laughed, no
Matter how silly were my little jokes.
She still laughs at my jokes, and shares
My bed, for forty years ago, we wed.
