There it stands on the ground proud and strong
The lonely granite carved stone
Ignored yet not forgotten
Dates and names mark it's lost members
Upon it’s chiselled and cracked face
Lists of men and women from our bygone past
Who marched off to protect and defend our land
In so doing became their last stand
We honour them once a year
With parades and wreaths
But are remembered in our daily thoughts and prayers
For without their sacrifice of life we would not be free
They fought on land, sea and in the air
On far off beaches, forests, fields, swamps, holes, and in the sky they
did battle
We now honour and salute our fallen brothers and sisters at this mark of
stone
For in their passing they have given us the freedom we now enjoy.
