Dr. Isaac W. T. McEachern
is an able and successful member of the medical profession of Edmonton
and his present prosperity is the result of conscientious effort and a
comprehensive understanding of the scientific principles of medicine and
surgery. lie was born in Russell county, Ontario, in 1876, and in the
paternal line he is descended from an ancient family of Scotland, while
his maternal ancestors were natives of the north of Ireland. His father,
Neil McEachern, was born in Glengary county, Ontario, in 1836, and he
was married in Russell county, in that province, to Miss Laura Taylor,
whose birth occurred in 1840. She passed away in 1897, at the age of
fifty-seven years, and the father was called to his final rest in 1915,
when seventy-nine years of age.
In the acquirement of an
education Isaac W. T. McEachern attended the grammar schools of
Rockland, Russell county, and the high school at Vankleek Hill, Prescott
county, Ontario, and in 1903 he was graduated from the medical
department of McGill University at Montreal, one of the most noted
educational institutions of the country. Coming to Western Canada, he
located at Banff, in the Rocky Mountain district of Alberta, where he
followed his profession until the fall of 1914, and then went to the
States, taking postgraduate work in surgery and gynecology in New York
city. On completing his course he returned to Banff, remaining at that
place until June, 1916, when he came to Edmonton and has since been a
resident of this city. He specializes in gynecology and surgery and his
professional skill has won for him a large practice. lie also has
business interests, being a director of the Rib-Stone Construction
Company, Ltd., of Edmonton.
Dr. McEachern was married
in Toronto, Ontario, on the 13th of May, 1913, to Miss Cora Victoria
McWhirter, whose father was an agriculturist. Dr. and Mrs. McEachern
have a daughter, Gwendolyn Laura. The Doctor is independent in his
political views, placing the qualifications of a candidate above party
affiliations, and his religious faith is in accord with the doctrines
and teachings of the Baptist church. His professional connections are
with the Edmonton Academy of Medicine and the Alberta and Canadian
Medical Associations and he is also a Fellow of the American College of
Surgeons. In his profession he has been actuated by the laudable desire
to attain the highest possible degree of skill and efficiency and his
career has been characterized by a steady progression that has placed
him with Edmonton's leading gynecologists and surgeons. |
