Apart from its style and
Scottish legal phraseology, the following decreet of lyning is interesting,
as showing that, in the time of King James VI., Auchtcrarder, while
possessing a Provost and Bailies, had a Town Clerk, a Court House, and
Register of the Burgh Court. The house, yard, and half croft therein
referred to, still belong to John Malar's descendant.
