The Tower of Craigietocher
Update April 2019

Yes we eventually moved in on 22nd August 2018 when we manage to get permission for a temporary occupation certificate from the Aberdeen Council. We are not quite finished yet, but we are getting there. The plan now is to complete everything by end of 2019, this to include landscaping.

I am still working in Nigeria doing about 260 days a year away to keep the funds rolling in. I am looking to retire in March 2020 and then I'll write the final chapter of the build. Taken me 24 years so far, but when you look at the Tower, its all been worth it.

Couple of photos attached for you.

Best regards,

Phill, Meryl & Catherine

I bought the land in 1995 and up to 2008 I was clearing and draining the land, building the Log Store and Doocot (Garage). Putting down the foundations for the Tower, digging out the new pool extension (bit Cate is skating on), building the bridge and the weir for the new pool. I actually started the building of the Tower from the foundations in March 2008. Sort of a 2 phase project.

Yes we are very happy in the Tower. Catherine, my step-daughter, is just 20 now and studying at Aberdeen University to be come a surgeon. She is also a top class ice skater and competes at semi-international level as and Ice Dancer. She has also skated for a number of years in a 16 girl synchro-team. But unfortunately the pressure of university life to become a Doctor has curtailed her skating time, but she still manages to skate most days as the rink is only 5 minute walk from her apartment in Aberdeen, she comes home to the Tower at weekends.

Last photos of the Christmas present we bough ourselves, the tapestry, which actually came from Canada.

Will keep you posted as we continue to progress.
