Members must descend from a "man or woman with
unfailing loyalty to the cause of American Independence served as a sailor, soldier or
civil officer in one to the several colonies or states. or in the United Colonies or
States as a recognized patriot, or rendered material aid thereunto." Lineage must be indisputable genealogical facts and resources a
worthy monument to the memory of our ancestors. This administration will reaffirm
and state that the papers of all applicants must show the lineal descendant through a
legal marriage of an ancestor who aided in achieving American Independence, documental
proof must be submitted for each generation on the paper whereby each generation can be
verified to the eligible to become a member.
The Daughters of the American Revolution is perhaps the
largest organization of this type. There are thousands of chapters internationally.
The headquarters are in Washington DC.
My ancestor is Col. Benjamin Wilson, famed Indian fighter,
statesman,and politician in the formation of the Declaration of Independence. He was born
1747 in Shendandoah VA, son of William Wilson and Elizabeth Blackburn, grandson of
David Wilson of Scotland born 1685, and great grandson of David Wilson Sr. of Scotland. |
