the La Fleur family of France and these records are at the Pensoneau
family museum out of St. Louis.
Mary Kell Canolis Ross was
daughter of father who was a Kell, and full Cherokee woman, listed on
Federal Census as "Cherokee woman, only." Therefore, Mary Kell, Canolis,
Ross would have been 1/2 Cherokee but was adopted by Jesse Chisholm of
the well known Chisholm trail. He also adopted Canolis, Yaqui
Indian, not a Mexican captive, as so listed in the Shawnee records.
Donna Jones Flood, his granddaughter has the records of Canolis adoption
by Chisholm showing him to be Yaqui Indian.

spread over the prairie close to the little cemetery owned by her brother,
Paul Martin Jones across from her family's home place in the Osage. A
small marker with dates is to be placed at the Ponca Indian Cemetery close
to her Mother and Father's marker.
As the Christian scripture
admonishes, “Weep at a child's birth, and rejoice at their death,” Donna
requests no funeral, be held. Her family provided lovingly and adequately
for her during her life time. She wants only those happy memories be
kept. The scriptures recorded telling of a paradise earth with no more
tears and sorrow are the hope and legacy she wishes her loved ones to
read, study and remember in order to free them from unnessesary grief.
In this way they will know there will be a resurrection and life so they
can be together when conditions permit freedom from suffering and death. |
