The work in compiling and
recording this information is dedicated to family, of immediate and
extended. Immediate for putting up with a mother's time sacrificed, and
extended family for generously sharing privileged information, this over
a period of ten years.
However, the most of my
appreciation goes to my father, Lee Otis Jones who jealously guarded
these old photographs and to my mother, Velma Louise Pensoneau Jones who
gave them to me. She being a great-granddaughter of Pasquel Pensoneau
has a dignified family history also.

Revised edition 2000
Compiled and written by
Donna Colleen Jones, Mrs. Rodney Lee Flood. Donna is the granddaughter of
Nancy Bellzona Collins Jones and Joseph Hubbard Jones. Donna is the
daughter of Lee Otis and Velma Pensoneau Jones, great-granddaughter of
William Stephens and Mary Ann DeWitt Jones. Donna is the granddaughter of
Elizebeth, Me-Tah-Ing-Gay, Little Cook, Pensoneau, Hernandez and her first
husband Narcisse Pensoneau.
Narcisse is the son of
Sephen Pensoneau. Stephen Pensoneau is the son of Pasquelle Pensoneau, who
was full French. Pasquelle married a Kickapoo woman and served as an
interpreter for that tribe on the payroll of the United States Government.
Pasquelle worked for Aster as a fur trader heading up one of his areas.
They have a family museum with all their paper work out of St. Louis.
Pasquelle's brother, Louis Pensoneau was an attorney and saw to the
writing of Pasquelle's biography. This information and paperwork was
shared with me by a descendant, Roland Kulla.
Donna is the
great-granddaughter of Oo-haun-shing-gah, Samuel Little Cook and his wife
Esther Broken Jaw, Little Cook.
In the first edition Joseph
H. Jones was listed as Joseph Herbert Jones according to a
daughter-in-law. This revised edition will show him as Joseph Hubbard
Jones because the notes left by his daughter, Gertrude, show him to be
Hubbard and because he had an Uncle Joseph Hubbard Jones.
The name Hubbard is
probably Herbert with the soft southern accent which was written as it
sounded.
Computer work of format and
the publishing is by Rodney Lee Flood, husband to the author. |
