WATKINS, WALSIE JONES WATKINS, Sister to Joseph H. Jones

Walsie was the sister of Joseph Herbert

this is where Pierce & Walsie settled.

8. Jefferson Floyd, born November 6, 1903, died April 16, 1970.
9. Bertha, died in infancy. DeLinda
Watkins, and Dian Laymen, descendants of Walsie and Pierce have searched
for these folks records at Coffeeville, Kansas and they cannot be found
there. My notes were taken from
members of the family who have since passed away, year 2001 and I cannot
go back to request on them about where these two were married. Sometimes,
before statehood people were married by a minister, but since there was no
government the marriage was not recorded. This happened with Walsie's
niece, GERTRUDE JONES WADLEY, but they were aware of this and crossed over
to a little town where there was a government and legalized their
marriage. DOSHIA (DORA) JONES FRENCHMAN, also a niece of Walsie, who
legalized her marriage through the federal government with her first
husband Edward Frenchman he being Native American and she herself adopted
by the Cherokee with a legal roll number.
So, for now we will just have to consider this
a mystery as to where they were married. Knowing how orderly these Jones's
were as to doing everything legally, as to the USA government this will
need to be further researched. Joseph Jones, Walsie's brother worked at
Thackerville as a post master for the federal government. |
