To realize as a descendant of this man Jacob
Fletcher Brewer there is nothing I can add. Reading the work of one
of his line, Reagan Alan Brewer, Atlanta, Georgia is helping me to tie
their culture to that of my father, Lee Otis Jones. Reagan mentions that
they passed the knowledge of brewing from father to son. This
was definitely a part of my father's make up. He made the most
wonderful elderberry wine and kept it cool in a very large wooden barrel
in our cellar. People came for miles when there was any occasion for
them to be invited. Today, there are those who remember the
"spirits" he could produce, not just one variety but a wide
selection from home made whiskey and more. It is more than the knowledge,
there is an actual love of the blending and producing of fine drinks. In
Oklahoma if liquor is produced just for one's own use, it is legal.
Lee did not drink his own alcohol other than to delicately taste it to
test for quality. He did not pass on his knowledge and none of his
family knows how to work with brewing.
Arthur CROCKER is shown on this
page as a private in Captain Nathan Chamber's Company, 1813. Arthur is
the father of Eda Crocker Brewer, wife of Jacob Fletcher Brewer.
Donna,
I hope that this is still a valid e-mail address for you. I am a
descendant of William Clark and Rachel Starkey and a number of years
ago I found your wonderful website for the Brewer Family which helped
me fill in my information for Miranda Clark who married Jacob Brewer
Jr.
My lineage also intersects the Clarks with a Vanderford family (among
others) from Polk County Missouri. In a moment of boredom today, I
did a Google Image search for Vanderford and found a link to Nemaha
County Nebraska cemeteries. I found some Vanderfords buried in the
Honey Creek Cemetery and also a tombstone inscription for
I was sure this was a Brewer relation to the Clarks since one of the
Vanderfords (William) buried in this cemetery was married to 2 Rains
sisters. These Rains sisters had a third sister Hannah married to
George Clark a son of William Clark.
In rechecking your website at electricscotland.com I saw that you did
not have information posted about Edeith after Polk Co. Missouri, and
as one genealogist to another, I felt compelled to let you know what I
had found.
I really enjoyed your website. It had so many interesting postings.
In addition to the family connection, my husband's family was from
Osage County Oklahoma. He was born at Ponca City. His mother's
maiden name was Barnard and one of her grandmothers was Martha Ella
Jones. I did not see any connection to his family in your material;
however, some of the pictures of your relations bear a striking
resemblance to my mother-in-law.
I hope you can use this information.
