MARY
FRANCES KEEF (Fannie) COLLINS, and her daughter, THELMA COLLINS.
Mary Frances (Fannie) was the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John Keef, pioneers of the community at McGee, Oklahoma.
Fannie was the wife of William Matthew Collins, Uncle Bill, born November
1, 1874, at Harrison, Arkansas. They were married in the year 1901.
William (Bill) was the brother of Nancy Bellzona Collins Jones. There were
two Uncle Bills in the family at the same time from different sides. This
Bill was spoken of as, "Uncle Bill Collins." The other Bill was
William Stephens Jones and he was known as, "Uncle Billy Jones."
Bill Collins died September 19, 1943. When
he died there were surviving children: 1. Mrs. Hugh Callen (Juanita) 2.
Paul Collins 3. Mrs. Tom Burleson (Thelma Collins), 4. Silas Collins, 5.
J.R. Collins 6. Mrs. Noel Watson (Bonnie) Mrs. Douglas Griffin (Bernice)
8. Mrs. Cecil Klutts, (Maxine).
Bill Collins homesteaded in Oklahoma in
1904. He settled then in Tyron, Texas county. In 1927 he sold out there at
Tyron and went to Stilwell, Oklahoma where he lived until he moved to
Stratford, Oklahoma where he lived until his death.
Bill Collins had a love of music and his
home was a place of music making for his family and his friends. He was at
one time champion of the state of Oklahoma as the best old time fiddler.
He also was a watch maker and a farmer.
He was survived by his wife Mary Frances
(Fannie) and his three sisters: Mrs. Joseph H. Jones (Nancy Bellzona)
Foraker, Mrs. Nathaniel Hobson (Leatha) of Ralston and Mrs. Elijah (Lidge)
Dunlap (Parilee) of Tahlequah. There was another sister, Mrs. James
Griffith (Margaret) from Texas who was not mentioned in the old newspaper
clipping.
