A shaft of sunlight shot
through from early morning east.
United it was with the brilliant yellow orange flower it creased.
Those spreading petals stood tall with their cluster strong.
Behind them the shadow of night lingered and longed to belong.
Dark behind them only gave their brilliance more notice,
For me, who was nothing so great, to receive this gift.
Forever, if I can remember this lesson of so great a wisdom,
We have only to look up to see a soothing of promise to come.
Simply to raise our eyes from the floor,
To see, and believe, all that is in store. |
