We
only had two occasions to visit with Florence "Bobby" Flood,
Mrs. Warren Buttleman.
The first time was when we visited her in
Houston, Texas. My husband was there on a training school and I was
expecting my second child. Never have I been treated so well. Every day
she scheduled a different activity. We saw, museums, art galleries, ate
in French restaurants, and even went to a banquet for a Senator.
It was a lovely experience to see how well
she fit into the Houston scene. The southern hospitality was at its best
and it was a memory to keep. I sent her back two very small paintings in
impasto with lovely heavy larger frames. The colors were very light and
soft. She hung them for years over her dining room buffet chest. When
they built their new home she used the color scheme though out the
house. After she passed her children sent them back to me via John and
Wenona Flood, my husband's parents. It was a moving experience. To have
only met her for a couple of times yet; she had so much respect for my
work. |
