The Caledonia and District
Pipes and Drums, established in April 2001, made their debut appearance at
the Caledonia Canada Day Parade, July 1, 2002.
They practise every
Thursday evening at the Grand Trunk Train Station in Caledonia. An Ontario
Trillium Grant assisted to outfit the complete band in an Antique
Caledonia Tartan.
Although Caledonia has had
Concert Bands at different periods in its history, the community has never
had a Pipe and Drum Band. Their popularity is growing in leaps and bounds.
The community is thrilled to hear the pipes and drums on the boardwalk and
platform at the renovated train station during practice sessions. The
number of engagements during the past four months since their debut is
astonishing, not only for the entire band but also for individual pipers
and drummers. |
