Ian
Macpherson McCulloch, CD, is a native of Halifax, Nova Scotia and holds a
honours degree in Journalism from Carleton University and a Master's in War
Studies from the Royal Military College of Canada. He joined the Canadian
Army in 1977 and has served in a variety of regimental and staff
appointments in Canada, Germany and the USA. Promoted to lieutenant colonel
in 1993, he assumed command of The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of
Canada in Montreal, Quebec. In 1996, he was appointed Deputy Director of
History and Heritage for the Canadian Forces at the National Defence
Headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario. Lt
Colonel McCulloch is currently posted to the Canadian Forces College in
Toronto where he is the Army and Special Operations Planner for the Joint
Command and Staff Programme.
