Alastair's Move to the USA
21st September 2003

Well today it looked nice and sunny so figured I would head for Glencoe and hope for the best. After a good breakfast I headed out from the hotel at 10.30am and headed over the hill towards the A9 and then a further 18 miles up the road turned off heading for Spean Bridge, onwards to Fort William and then down through Glencoe then along to Killin and then onward back to Kinloch Rannoch and arrived back at 5.30pm.  So here are the pictures I managed to get...

The first picture shows where I am heading and it sure looks barren but as you get into the hills you find lovely wee glens and even a beach as the above pictures show.

The picture on the left shows another view while I headed for Spean Bridge and when I arrived there noted a sign for the Commando Monument so thought I'd pop up and see it. The picture on the right shows one of the views while standing at the monument.

This is the Commando Monument and another scene from the monument

On my way to Glencoe I noticed the Mull ferry coming into land so just popped down to take a quick photograph and then headed on into Glencoe and you can see me driving on the road into the glen.

So as you can see the weather was not good but you did get a sense of atmosphere while there.

This was the restaurant at the visitor centre.

The above pictures are of Glencoe Village

This was me driving out of Glencoe

All of the above pictures are leaving Glencoe heading over Rannoch Moor and I just wanted to try to give you a flavour of the scenery as you drive through.

This is picture of the entrance to Glen Etive

This last set of pictures was me entering and leaving the village of Fortingill where they have the oldest Yew Tree in the world. Tiny village up a one track road but well worth the visit.
