Introduction

The above is the opening paragraph from this publication and we hope it will inspire the locals in Lossiemouth to take up the challenge of telling us of their life in Lossiemouth in the 21st century before they pass away.

This project is designed to look at Lossiemouth and the surrounding area in minute detail.  It comes out of my many years of researching Scottish history where many small details of life in Scotland are very difficult to find.  At the end of the day this project can only happen where the local population gets involved.  While this project will show what life is like in Lossiemouth it will become an historical record for future generations to learn from.

100 years ago we didn't have mobile phones or Internet or Televisions or computers or motor cars. Who knows where we'll be in another 100 years. Perhaps we'll have a chip in our brains so we won't need to carry mobile phones or computers.  So all I'm trying to do is put a marker down on how we live our life today and so hopefully the people in Lossiemouth will tell us something about themselves as they live today so that in 100 or more years we'll be able to show people how we lived then.

It is the illusion of each generation that what is well-known and definite today will always be so. Hence, records are inadequate and incompletely kept; important letters are destroyed; precautions against fire are not taken; and of course the duplication of documents is held to be superfluous. In another decade or two there will be hardly any one living who will remember much of the previous generation. And thus this is the reason for this project.

This page will be updated as we get more content so it's basic layout simply reflects the lack of information we have available at this time.

And so if you can help in anyway please get in touch. Our major traffic is through the USA - 43%, UK - 21%, Canada - 10% and Australia and New Zealand - 7.5%.
